The
Coldflame Saber (276631) is a hidden Mage-only weapon forged inside your bags. By applying
Scroll of the Saber (277490) to
Blade of Silverlaine (273637) from Shadowfang Keep, a caster sword with +28 Spell Power transforms into an item level 29 caster blade with +7 Intellect, +32 Spell Power, and 98 bonus Fire damage on melee attacks against Frozen targets.
Both the base sword drop in Shadowfang Keep and the scroll transformation are confirmed in the client, and Mages have found Scroll of the Saber by deciphering Comprehension skill 15 scrolls. The scroll is the hard part: it is a rare result that can take hundreds of attempts.

Coldflame Saber Stats and Effect
Once transformed,
Coldflame Saber (276631) has the following stats:
- Slot & Class: Rare Main Hand Sword, Item Level 29, Requires Level 21, Classes: Mage
- Weapon Damage:
17–32 Damage, Speed2.00(12.3 DPS) - Primary Stat:
+7 Intellect - Equip:
Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 32. - Equip:
Melee attacks deal 98 additional Fire damage against Frozen targets.
When a target is frozen by Frost Nova or Frostbite, a melee swing adds 98 Fire damage. Treat that as a bonus rather than a rotation:
Does the Coldflame Saber Scale With Spell Power?
No. The 98 Fire damage is a flat bonus with no spell power scaling, so the saber’s own +32 does not raise it. Casting also resets your swing timer, which makes weaving spells and melee swings clumsy. The saber’s real value is the spell power and intellect, plus a fun extra hit when an enemy is frozen next to you.
Step 1: Loot Blade of Silverlaine in Shadowfang Keep
Enter Shadowfang Keep and defeat Baron Silverlaine (3887) to loot
Blade of Silverlaine (273637), an item level 26 Rare main-hand sword: 17–33 Damage, Speed 2.30, +6 Shadow Resistance and +28 Spell Power, wearable at level 21. It is already a strong caster weapon, so other casters may want it too; tell your group before the pull that you need it for the
Coldflame Saber, and make sure the Mage who will wield the saber loots it, as both items bind on pickup.

Shadowfang Keep entrance44.7, 67.8Step 2: Decipher Scroll of the Saber
Scroll of the Saber (277490, binds on pickup) belongs to the Mage Comprehension scroll pool (Use: Use on Blade of Silverlaine to create a powerful weapon). Mages learn Comprehend Scroll at level 6 and use it to decipher untranslated scrolls. Your first Library Book donation unlocks Study, which turns a library visit into a Bundle of Scrolls once an hour; that is the steadiest scroll supply.
Which Scrolls Can Produce Scroll of the Saber?
Mages have found it by deciphering scrolls that need Comprehension skill 15, including:
- Scroll: OMIT KESA
- Scroll: WUBBA WUBBA
- Scroll: VOCE WELL
- Scroll: STHENIC LUNATE
The result is random. Some Mages found the scroll within a hundred attempts and one within thirty; others went through four or five hundred, and some have passed a thousand without it. Bank your
Blade of Silverlaine and keep deciphering skill 15 scrolls as you Study.
Step 3: Apply the Scroll to the Blade
With both
Blade of Silverlaine (273637) and
Scroll of the Saber (277490) in your Mage’s bags, right-click the scroll and use it on the sword. The cast consumes both items and creates
Coldflame Saber (276631).
Coldflame Saber vs. Blade of Silverlaine
Compared with the sword you already hold, the saber gains 4 spell power and 7 intellect, adds the frozen-target Fire bonus, and gives up 6 shadow resistance. As a one-hand weapon it still leaves your off-hand slot open for a stat orb.
Is the Coldflame Saber Worth Farming?
For collectors and Mages who enjoy unusual builds, yes: it is a unique look and a hidden Mage reward. As a pure leveling upgrade it is small, and the scroll can take hundreds of decipherings. Keep studying and deciphering as part of your normal routine rather than spending heavily on scrolls to force it.
