Brother Zendraas is a hidden merchant on Zephras Isle who does not look like a normal vendor at first. He stood at the Shrine of Akir, spoke before opening his stock and sold Al’Aketh armor for Windstones, a currency many players finish the starting zone without noticing.

Current status: Brother Zendraas has not been at the shrine since the October 10 beta build. If you cannot find him, he is simply not in the game right now; the details below are as he was last seen, ready for when he returns.

The shrine is easy to miss because it is away from the main quest path, and he stands indoors, so this guide gives both the coordinate and the walk inside.

Brother Zendraas Location on Zephras Isle

Travel to the Shrine of Akir at approximately 57.8, 52.0. At the statue, turn left, then left again into the building with a campfire in front of it; he stood inside in the back right corner. (Some databases list 58.3, 50.6, which is the same building.) The shrine is not in the main Shen’dar quest cluster, and the merchant does not carry a conventional yellow exclamation mark.

Speak to Brother Zendraas before looking for a vendor icon. The first conversation unlocks his stock; walking away without finishing it makes him appear to have nothing for sale.

Pin 1 is Brother Zendraas at the Shrine of Akir. Pin 2 is Dalia the Collector in Thendal Grove, who offers Harvesting Windstones.

How to Earn Windstones

Windstones (255663) come from quests on Zephras Isle. The clearest source is Harvesting Windstones, offered by Dalia the Collector in Thendal Grove at 43.3, 24.0: gather 15 Windstone Clusters and she rewards 3 Windstones. The clusters are quest items, not currency, so only the 3 stones at the turn-in count toward a purchase.

Do not confuse this with Catching Wind, which sends you to the Windstone Formation at 47.6, 68.8 to take readings with the Index Esoteria. That formation gives quest progress, not Windstones.

A Windstone is also a small consumable: used on the Skywall, it restores a little health and mana. Spend them at the vendor if he returns; otherwise they are a handy snack while you level.

What Brother Zendraas Sells

Brother Zendraas sold Al’Aketh armor: 24 pieces of cloth, leather and mail in the cult’s style, from armguards and gauntlets to the Al’Aketh Vestments, Jerkin and Chainmail. Each piece cost 5, 8 or 15 Windstones. He did not sell weapons.

Because Windstones are limited on a fresh character, fill an empty armor slot or replace a piece that is clearly behind, rather than spending your stones on small upgrades.

Who Is Brother Zendraas?

Before the cult came, Zendraas was the tailor of Falaath Village. When the Al’Aketh took the village, he shaved his head, put on the robes and passed himself off as one of the faithful to survive. He helped design many of the cult’s garments, which is why the gear he sells looks exactly like theirs.

Why the Vendor Is Easy to Miss

Starting zones teach players to follow quest markers. Brother Zendraas breaks that pattern: he is off the main path, his stock is hidden behind dialogue and his currency is not gold. The design rewards exploration rather than a long quest chain.

If he returns and you reach Valanaar without visiting him, the detour from the main road is short. Do it before you leave Zephras Isle: coming back later means an airship trip from Dalaran or Mulgore.

Brother Zendraas Checklist

  1. Check the building at the Shrine of Akir around 57.8, 52.0. Left at the statue, left again, back right corner. If he is not there, he has not returned yet.
  2. Finish the conversation. The vendor window opens only after the initial dialogue.
  3. Collect Windstones from island quests. Harvesting Windstones from Dalia the Collector at 43.3, 24.0 gives 3.
  4. Do not count Catching Wind. The formation at 47.6, 68.8 gives quest readings, not Windstones.
  5. Buy armor you will wear now. Fill empty slots first; the 15-stone pieces can wait.
