About Razorfen Downs

While Razorfen Kraul represents the vibrant primal briars of quilboar life, its twin landmark, Razorfen Downs, long served as their sacred necropolis—the tomb where chieftains and mystics rested beneath towering skeletal ribs. But when the Scourge sought footholds in central Kalimdor, an icy horror moved into the depths: Amnennar the Coldbringer, a lich servant of the Lich King who chilled the volcanic sap of Agamaggan into permafrost and corrupted the ancestral crypts.

Amnennar’s necromancy made short work of the sacred dead. Ancient quilboar warriors were reanimated as frostbitten skeletons and shambling ghouls, skeletal abominations like Glutton gorge on remains in the abattoir, the tomb-spider Tuten'kash lurks in webbed alcoves, and Mordresh Fire Eye commands a bizarre troupe of dancing skeletons upon a mountain of skulls. The stench of decomposing flesh mixes with sub-zero tomb winds howling through petrified brambles.

Pushing up the skeletal pathways requires vigilance against sudden zombie ambushes and ice-locked choke points. Bringing priests and paladins turns this grueling climb into an absolute purification clinic, culminating in a freezing confrontation atop Amnennar’s glacial spire to shatter the Lich King’s southern outpost.

First Run

  • Located in the southern Barrens just north of the Great Lift into Thousand Needles, marked by colossal petrified bone tusks framing the cavern maw.
  • Target level 34 to 38. The majority of enemies are Undead, giving Holy Paladins, Priests (Shackle Undead), and anti-undead consumables supreme utility.
  • In Tuten'kash’s web-strewn chamber, striking the central hanging gong three successive times triggers escalating waves of subterranean arachnids before the spider matriarch drops down.
  • Amnennar the Coldbringer casts frequent Frost Novas, channels localized blizzards, and summons swarms of exploding frost spirits; maintain loose spreads to prevent group-wide root freezes.

Veteran Notes

  • Six encounters: Tuten'kash, Plaguemaw the Rotting, Mordresh Fire Eye, Ragglesnout, Glutton, and Amnennar the Coldbringer.
  • Five attached quests, accessible to both factions from hubs in Freewind Post, Undercity, and Thousand Needles.
  • Amnennar drops the Coldrage Dagger and Icemetal Barbute, two premier frost-forged leveling milestones.
