About Badlands
The Badlands were not always a desert. In this dry canyon country the titans built Uldaman, a vault that held the earthen in stasis, and it is from those halls that the dwarves woke, changed and forgetful, to found Ironforge. What remains is a stone-cold reminder that the world has a longer memory than any of its peoples.
The canyons that remain are a hard country. Ogres and troggs roam the cliffs, whelps of the black dragonflight nest in the high rock, and the Horde’s outpost at Kargath is a lonely foothold at the western edge. It is a place best crossed quickly.
The Horde holds Kargath in the west, and in the northern cliffs the titan vault of Uldaman is the region’s great dungeon draw. The Badlands are tough, and they pay you back for it.

Badlands Leveling Guide for the Alliance, Levels 35–45
The Badlands is the red, rocky desert south of Loch Modan, and it works as a ring around a few camps: Hammertoe's Digsite in the east, the Valley of Fangs in the middle, Lotwil Veriatus in the Dustbowl to the west and Agmond's End in the south. You come down from Loch Modan through the pass, so plan on one lap at 35 to 40 and a second, shorter one at 40 to 45.
Monsters run from level 35 Shadowforge dwarves and crag coyotes to 42 to 44 Greater Rock Elementals in the south-west corner. The Dustbelcher ogres are 38 to 42, the Stonevault troggs at Agmond's End 39 to 41, and the elite Ambassador Infernus in the north-east ruins is 42: give him room. The entrance to Uldaman is in this zone, and four quests here lead into it.
1Before You Start: The Auction House
Nearly every Badlands quest item is a quest-only drop, but two are tradeable: the buzzard wings for Rigglefuzz's Barbecued Buzzard Wings and the blue pearls for Pearl Diving. Check the auction house first if you would rather skip the pearl dive.
| Item | Buy | For quest |
|---|---|---|
| Buzzard Wing | 4 | Barbecued Buzzard Wings |
| Blue Pearl | 9 | Pearl Diving |
2Hammertoe's Digsite: Pick Up the DigLevel 35–40
Ride south out of Loch Modan through the pass. Prospector Ryedol and Sigrun Ironhew camp side by side at the dig. The Shadowforge dwarves camp just north of the digsite: the pick lies among their tents, and Tunnelers and Darkweavers carry it. The supply crate lies in the abandoned dig to the north-east, among the Dustbelcher ogres. Crag coyotes roam the slopes around the camp, and their fangs are for the Reagent Run.

- 1Prospector Ryedol 53.4, 43.4: A Dwarf and His Tools; A Sign of Hope Uldaman quest is handed in here once Hammertoe Grez is found alive.
- 2Sigrun Ironhew 53.8, 43.3: Mirages and Scrounging; later Fiery Blaze Enchantments.
- 3Shadowforge camp 53.3, 34.3: take Ryedol's Lucky Pick for A Dwarf and His Tools.
- 4Crag coyote slopes 50.2, 35.2: crag coyote fangs for Badlands Reagent Run.
- 5Abandoned dig 66.6, 22.0: the supply crate for Mirages.
3The Valley of Fangs: Martek and RigglefuzzLevel 35–40
Martek and Rigglefuzz camp together in the Valley of Fangs, in the middle of the Badlands. The Dustbelcher ogres camp just south of the valley, and any of them drops scrap; buzzards circle the plain to the east.
The indurium flakes are at Agmond's End: the Bonesnappers and Shamans around the battered skeleton drop them.

- 1Martek the Exiled 42.2, 52.7: hand in Martek the Exiled from Fizzle, take Indurium and later News for Fizzle.
- 2Rigglefuzz 42.4, 52.9: Barbecued Buzzard Wings and Pearl Diving.
- 3Buzzard plain 33.4, 59.8: 4 Buzzard Wings and the Buzzard Gizzards for the Reagent Run.
- 4Stonevault camp 50.9, 64.4: 10 Indurium Flakes from the Bonesnappers and Shamans.
- 5Western coast 27.6, 29.2: 9 Blue Pearls for Pearl Diving.
4The Dustbowl: Lotwil VeriatusLevel 35–42
Ride west into the Dustbowl; Lotwil works by his machines in the middle of it. He gives his rock-study quests one after another, and each asks for a larger piece: stone shards from the Lesser Rock Elementals west of him, large slabs from the Rock Elementals to the south-east, and finally the Bracers of Rock Binding from the Greater Rock Elementals (level 42) in the far south-west corner below Camp Boff. Pull the Greater ones one at a time. The Dustbelcher Wyrmhunters and Maulers at Camp Boff also drop scrap.

- 1Lotwil Veriatus 25.9, 44.9: Study of the Elements: Rock; Lucien Tosselwrench 25.8, 44.2 has Stone Is Better than Cloth, which wants Patterned Bronze Bracers.
- 2Lesser Rock Elementals 23.5, 45.5: 10 Small Stone Shards, then the Rock Elemental Shards for the Reagent Run.
- 3Rock Elementals 16.6, 36.1: 3 Large Stone Slabs.
- 4Camp Boff and the south-west corner 17.0, 84.3: 5 Bracers of Rock Binding; scrap for Scrounging drops from the ogres 29.9, 56.4.
5Agmond's End and UldamanLevel 35–42
Theldurin the Lost sits by the ruined camp at Agmond's End, in the south. The battered skeleton lies at the edge of the Stonevault trogg camp, and Murdaloc, Agmond's killer, walks among the Bonesnappers (39 to 40).

- 1Theldurin the Lost 51.4, 76.9: Solution to Doom Uldaman quest and To Ironforge for Yagyin's Digest.
- 2Agmond's skeleton and Murdaloc 49.6, 66.3: Find Agmond Uldaman quest and Murdaloc Uldaman quest, with 12 Stonevault Bonesnappers 50.2, 67.1.
6Heart and Earth SignLevel 40–45
The second lap is short. Sigrun's Fiery Blaze Enchantments wants a Black Drake's Heart from the Scalding Whelps in Lethlor Ravine, east of Garek; leave the Scorched Guardians (elite) alone. The heart drops rarely, so take it if it comes while you grind. Garek camps alone in Dustwind Gulch, south-east of the digsite, and sends you to the far south-west corner for the Sign of the Earth. Boss Tho'grun stands in the middle of the Dustbelcher camp at Camp Boff with Wyrmhunters and Maulers around him.

- 1Garek 61.9, 54.3: Tremors of the Earth; the Sign of the Earth is in the south-west corner 12.6, 75.5.
- 2Lethlor Ravine 69.7, 53.8: the Black Drake's Heart for Fiery Blaze Enchantments.
