Embrace of the Viper looks like a buffed Wailing Caverns leather set until a Druid equips all five pieces. Alongside the visible 5-piece Dream Venom melee stun proc, an unlisted class effect transforms Cat Form into a serpent—replacing the feline model, giving Prowl a low slithering crawl, and tinting the scales by Druid race.

Every piece drops inside Wailing Caverns. Here are the five drop sources, the visible and hidden set bonuses, and the cleanest route through the four Fang Lords.

Requirements Before You Start

  • A Druid with Cat Form. Cat Form is learned at level 20; the snake replaces it, so you need it first.
  • All five real set pieces, equipped together. There is no separate snake form quest.
  • Shift into Cat Form. The snake only appears in Cat Form; your other forms are unchanged.

Visible Set Bonuses and the Hidden 5-Piece Form

Embrace of the Viper (item set 162) carries four visible tooltip bonuses in WoW: Forever:

  • (2) Set: +10 Intellect.
  • (3) Set: +10 Attack Power.
  • (4) Set: Taking damage while at or below 25% health causes you to restore 100 health and mana over 5 sec. (5 min cooldown)
  • (5) Set: Grants your melee attacks a chance to inflict Dream Venom, stunning the target for 1 sec.

When a Druid equips all five pieces and shifts into Cat Form, the unlisted cosmetic bonus triggers at the same time: your character transforms into a long, low serpent whose scale color matches your Druid race, complete with a custom Prowl stealth crawl.

Snake Form vs Normal Cat Form

The snake is a new look, not a new form. You keep every Cat Form ability, energy and combo points work the same, and the combat sounds barely change. The Dream Venom stun comes from the visible 5-piece bonus, not from the snake itself. The appearance is not a permanent unlock either: take off any piece and the cat returns.

All Five Embrace of the Viper Drop Sources

Piece Item ID Source Classic-era drop rate (approx.)
Belt of the Fang 10412 Lady Anacondra 9.6%
Footpads of the Fang 10411 Lord Serpentis 21%
Gloves of the Fang 10413 Wailing Caverns trash, such as Druids of the Fang (Bind on Equip) 2.4% per kill
Leggings of the Fang 10410 Lord Cobrahn 17%
Armor of the Fang 6473 Lord Pythas 55%

The rates are long-standing Classic-era estimates and work as a guide to which pieces take longest. The set has two different kinds of chase. The gloves have the lowest rate per kill, but several Druids of the Fang and other trash can drop them on every run, and they are Bind on Equip: check the Auction House or ask a friend before you grind. The belt drops only from Lady Anacondra at about 10%, once per run, so it can easily outlast the gloves. The other four pieces all bind on pickup.

Wailing Caverns Route: Where Each Boss Sits

The dungeon’s winding caves can make a simple loot list feel longer than necessary. Follow the normal route rather than cutting across the upper ledges:

  1. Clear the entrance packs and early trash. Druids of the Fang can drop Gloves of the Fang, so do not skip the first rooms.
  2. Kill Lady Anacondra. Her belt is the lowest-chance boss drop.
  3. Kill Lord Cobrahn. He drops the leggings.
  4. Continue east to Lord Pythas. The chest piece is the most common set drop.
  5. Finish with Lord Serpentis. The footpads are the last set piece on this route.

The exact kill order can shift with a group’s route, but all four set bosses are part of a normal clear, and the Wailing Caverns page follows the same order.

How to Confirm the Hidden Snake Form

Bind the five pieces to one Druid and equip them before testing. Use Cat Form outdoors where the model is easy to see, then use Prowl. The serpent’s body should lower into a crawl and the tail should trail behind rather than curling like a cat.

If the appearance does not change, check three things: all five set pieces are actually equipped at once, your Druid has learned Cat Form, and you are in Cat Form rather than another form. The hidden bonus activates from the equipped set, not from having the pieces in your bags.

Is the Snake Form Worth Farming?

Yes, if you enjoy visible class customization. The set is not endgame gear, and its combat bonuses are aimed at the level range where Wailing Caverns is relevant. The reason to return at a higher level is the appearance. A full clear is short, the gloves can be bought, and the final effect is one of the clearest examples of Forever hiding a reward outside the tooltip.

Embrace of the Viper Checklist

  1. Open the Wailing Caverns route before entering and mark the four set bosses.
  2. Check the Auction House for the gloves first. Gloves of the Fang are Bind on Equip; otherwise clear the Druids of the Fang on every run.
  3. Kill Lady Anacondra, Lord Cobrahn, Lord Pythas and Lord Serpentis. Each supplies one named piece; Anacondra’s belt is the slowest.
  4. Equip all five on one Druid and keep them on. Removing any piece turns the snake back into a cat.
  5. Test Cat Form and Prowl together. The snake crawl is the clearest confirmation that the set bonus is active.

Embrace of the Viper: WoW Forever Druid Snake Form Common Questions

How do I unlock the Druid snake form in WoW Forever?

Learn Cat Form (level 20), collect all five pieces of Embrace of the Viper from Wailing Caverns and equip the complete set. The hidden effect changes Cat Form into a snake; no separate quest is needed.

Which Wailing Caverns bosses drop Embrace of the Viper?

Lady Anacondra drops the belt, Lord Cobrahn drops the leggings, Lord Pythas drops the armor and Lord Serpentis drops the footpads. The gloves come from dungeon trash such as the Druids of the Fang, and they are Bind on Equip, so you can also buy them.

Is the Druid snake form a permanent unlock?

No. The snake appearance only lasts while all five pieces are equipped. Take any piece off and Cat Form goes back to the normal cat.

Can I buy Gloves of the Fang on the Auction House?

Yes. Gloves of the Fang bind on equip, so they can be traded or listed. The other four pieces bind on pickup and have to drop for you.

Does the snake form work on every Druid race?

Yes, but the snake colour varies by race. The model also has a unique Prowl animation used while stealthed.

Is the snake appearance shown on the set tooltip?

No. The tooltip lists four combat bonuses up to the 5-piece Dream Venom stun proc; transforming Druid Cat Form into a serpent is an unlisted bonus that activates alongside the 5-piece effect.
