What Forever Changes for Paladins
- Holy Strike arrives at level 6: an instant weapon strike that deals Holy damage on a 10-second cooldown.
- Judgement no longer consumes your Seal. Seal of Fury, learned at level 10, adds Holy damage to your swings, builds small absorb shields while you wear a shield, and makes Judgement taunt.
- Consecration and Blessing of Kings are trained by every Paladin at level 20, and Consecration hits the first four enemies hardest.
- Undead bring the Paladin to the Horde.
- The class keeps its gaps: no interrupt, no slow, and a taunt that runs through Seal of Fury and Judgement rather than a single button.
New and Reworked Paladin Abilities
These are the spells the Forever client adds, opens to every race, or hands you without a talent, in the order you learn them. Spells marked with a race are that race’s own.
| Level | Ability | Status | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Holy Strike | New in Forever | An instant strike that causes 50% weapon damage plus an additional 81 as Holy damage. |
| 10 | Seal of Fury | New in Forever | Fills the Paladin with divine fury for 30 sec, causing melee attacks to deal an additional 35 Holy damage. While a shield is equipped, each attack also grants an absorb shield equal to 50% of the Holy damage dealt. Only one Seal can be active on the Paladin at any one time. Unleashing this Seal's energy inflicts 153 Holy damage to an enemy and taunts the target to attack you for 4 sec. |
| 20 | Consecration | Was a Classic talent | Consecrates the land beneath the Paladin, doing 96 Holy damage over 8 sec to enemies who enter the area. The first 4 enemies who enter the area will take an additional 216 damage over 8 sec. |
| 20 | Blessing of Kings | Was a Classic talent | Places a Blessing on the friendly target, increasing total stats by 10% for 1 hr. Players may only have one Blessing on them per Paladin at any one time. |
| 26 | Revoke | New in Forever | Remove target party or raid member's Salvation or Mass Salvation. |
| 26 | Salvation | New in Forever | Reduces all threat generated by target party member by 30% for 1 hr. |
| 40 | Hammer of the Righteous | New in Forever | Hammer the current target and up to 3 additional nearby targets, causing Holy damage to each equal to 3 times the damage per second of your main hand weapon. Cooldown shared with Crusader Strike. |
| 60 | Mass Salvation | New in Forever | Gives all members of the raid or group that share the same class with the target a reduction to all threat generated by 30% for 1 hr. |
Recommended Builds
Each build lists the order to spend every point from level 10, so you can follow it while you level. Open any step in the talent calculator to see the build at that level.
Retribution Beta Start
Levels 10–20, solo questing with Holy Strike and Judgement
0 Holy0 Protection11 Retribution
All eleven points in Retribution: parry, a shorter Judgement cooldown, and extra critical strike, then Seal of Command at 20.
Why these talents
- Deflection adds 5% parry: less damage taken solo, and a parry speeds up your next swing.
- Improved Judgement takes 2 seconds off Judgement, so your seal damage lands noticeably more often.
- Three points in Conviction add 3% melee critical strike and open the third row.
- Seal of Command at 20 gives your swings a chance to deal extra Holy damage equal to 70% of weapon damage.
Swaps to consider
- Grouping at 20? Move the Deflection points into Benediction for 10% cheaper instant spells and seals.
- Facing Undead or Demons? Two points from Conviction into Holy Conduit pay for more frequent Consecration and Exorcism, both of which unlock at 20.
Protection Beta Start
Levels 10–20, tanking beta dungeons
0 Holy11 Protection0 Retribution
Block and hit first: Redoubt for block spikes, Precision so your threat abilities land, and the first point of Shield Specialization to turn blocks into Mana.
Why these talents
- Redoubt gives melee attacks against you a 10% chance to raise your block chance by 20% for 10 seconds or 5 blocks.
- Precision adds 3% hit, which matters most on the abilities you build threat with.
- Anticipation adds 8 Defense Skill, cutting the chance that enemies crit or crush you.
- Shield Specialization restores 6% of maximum Mana on a third of your blocks, which is what keeps Consecration running once it unlocks at 20.
Swaps to consider
- Questing solo? Retribution kills far faster; Protection earns its points in a dungeon group.
Holy Beta Start
Levels 10–20, healing dungeons while still questing solo
11 Holy0 Protection0 Retribution
A damage-leaning Holy opening: 10% more Intellect, stronger Seals and Judgements, a first step into Healing Light, and Mana regeneration that keeps running while you cast.
Why these talents
- Divine Intellect adds 10% Intellect, which is both a larger Mana pool and more healing from the spell power on early gear.
- Improved Seals raises Seal and Judgement damage by 15%, so solo kills stay quick while you level toward the real healing talents.
- Two points in Healing Light add 8% to Holy Light and Flash of Light, the heals you lean on in dungeons.
- Reverence lets 10% of your Mana regeneration continue while casting.
Swaps to consider
- Playing almost entirely in groups? Move the Improved Seals points into Healing Light and Spiritual Focus for stronger heals that are not pushed back.
