Privacy

WoW Handbook is an independent reference guide. You can explore all content without an account, and you decide how analytics and advertising cookies work for you.

What We Collect and Store

  • No user accounts. We do not require registration or collect personal profile data.
  • Tools run in your browser. Calculators, talent builds, filters, and checklists run locally on your device and are never sent to external servers.
  • Local storage for your work. Saved talent builds, comparison bookmarks, your theme choice, and your privacy choices stay in your browser's local storage on your own device.

Advertising and Third-Party Data

WoW Handbook is free to read and is funded by advertising. Because ads are served on this site, third parties process data about your visit:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to WoW Handbook or to other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • Serving and measuring ads may involve cookies, web beacons and pixels, your IP address, and device or browser identifiers such as screen size, operating system, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • We never send your name, email address, or any other information that identifies you personally to Google or to any advertising partner, because we never collect it in the first place.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which guides readers actually use, so we know what to improve and what to write next. In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set once you allow them. Everywhere else they are on by default, and the choices below turn them off. The reports we see are aggregated, never tied to an individual reader.

Your Choices

  • Choose first in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland. Readers there see a consent message on their first visit. Until you answer it, advertising and analytics storage stays switched off through Google Consent Mode.
  • Change your consent later. Whenever a consent message applies to you, a Cookie Settings link appears in the page footer so you can review or withdraw your choices. Outside those regions, advertising and analytics storage is on by default, and your browser's cookie settings or the links below switch it off.
  • Turn off personalised ads across the web. Visit Google Ads Settings to opt out of personalised advertising from Google.
  • Opt out of other vendors. Visit aboutads.info or Your Online Choices to opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising.
  • Read Google's own disclosure. How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services explains what Google does with the data it receives.

Declining advertising cookies does not lock you out of anything. You will still see ads, they will simply be less relevant, and every guide, map, and tool stays fully available.

Hosting

Like any website, our hosting provider may process standard request data, such as IP address and browser type, to deliver pages securely and protect against abuse.

Children

WoW Handbook is written for World of Warcraft players and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and we do not build advertising audiences from any reader's activity.

Links to Other Sites

We link to Blizzard's official pages as sources. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

Changes

We will update this page if our data practices change. Last updated October 28, 2026.
