The Bag Plan: Fill Four Slots, Then Upgrade
Every trip back to town to empty your bags is time not spent leveling. The fix is simple: fill all four bag slots early, then swap in bigger bags as quests hand them out.
Quest bags bind when picked up, so they are for you only. Vendor bags and crafted bags fill the gaps. Every bag below has its own card further down with the quest start, a map and the reward; select a row to jump to it.

Quest Bags by Level: 8 to 12 Slots on Your Route
Forever made several of these better than you remember. Old Blanchy's Feed Pouch doubled from 4 to 8 slots, and new quests add bags that Classic never had. They are listed in the order you reach them.
Lv 7The Buzzbox ChainDarkshore questers
Wizbang starts the chain in Auberdine: Buzzbox 827, 411, 323 and 525. The gunnysack comes from the last one. Take it along while you quest through Darkshore rather than as a separate trip.

- Reward
Wizbang's Gunnysack 8 slots
Lv 9Poor Old BlanchyWestfall
Verna waits by her broken-down wagon in northern Westfall. Gather oats from the nearby fields, bring them back, and the pouch is yours. No elites, no dungeon: the easiest 8 slots for the Alliance.

- Reward
Old Blanchy's Feed Pouch 8 slots
Lv 9Parts and PiecesThe Barrens
Wrenix in Ratchet wants his scattered machine parts back. It is new in Forever and sits right on the Barrens route, next to the Samophlange quest in the same town.

- Reward
Scuffed Shipping Crate 8 slots
Lv 13Deviate HidesWailing Caverns
Nalpak waits on the hill above the Wailing Caverns entrance. Pick the quest up before you go in, then collect 20 Deviate Hides from the deviate creatures inside and bring them back to him. In Classic you chose between the pack and the leggings. Forever gives you both.

- Reward
Deviate Hide Pack 10 slots · plus the leggings
Lv 14Stepping StonesCozy Sleeping Bag chain, step 2
The single best bag quest in Forever. There is no quest giver: you start from a burned-out camp in Westfall or the Barrens, find the second camp on the other continent, and follow the note to the abandoned camp in Stonetalon Mountains. The white dot on the map is where the path leaves the road near Sun Rock Retreat. Swap both bags in and you gain 12 slots from one quest. The real cost is the trip between continents, so do it once you have a few flight paths.

- Reward
Old Toolbox 12 slots
Sturdy Lunchbox 12 slots
Lv 15Vyrin's RevengeLoch Modan
Two short quests from the Farstrider Lodge in eastern Loch Modan (pin 1). Vyrin Swiftwind sends you after Ol' Sooty, an elite bear at pin 2; show the head to Daryl the Youngling in the same lodge, then take it back to Vyrin. The second turn-in now adds a 10-slot Hunting Satchel on top of its usual reward, so it is worth doing on any class. Bring a friend for the elite.

- Reward
Hunting Satchel 10 slots
Lv 23Stronger than SteelHorde, level 23+
Choose one bag. Take the 12-slot Spidersilk Pouch for your main bags unless you already have a reagent bag; the 10-slot Spidersilk Sack only holds crafting materials.

Vendor and Crafted Bags: Buy the Gaps
General goods vendors sell four sizes. A 6-slot pouch costs 5 silver, the cheapest way to fill an empty slot on day one.
| Vendor bag | Slots | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | 5s | |
| 8 | 25s | |
| 10 | 2g | |
| 12 | 10g |
Tailors have the best early deal: the
Red Linen Bag holds 8 slots in Forever, up from 6 in Classic, and it is made from cheap linen-tier materials. When players list it on the auction house below the 25 silver of a Brown Leather Satchel, buy it there. See the Tailoring guide.
Reagent Bags: Materials Out of Your Main Bags
Forever adds reagent bags, a bag type that holds crafting materials. For gatherers they are the biggest space saver of all, because ore, herbs and leather no longer crowd out quest items and gear.
| Reagent bag | Slots | Made by |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | Tailoring | |
| 6 | Leatherworking | |
| 8 | Tailoring | |
| 10 | Tailoring |
They bind when equipped, so a crafter can sell them on the auction house. The Linen and Light Leather versions are cheap enough to pick up early.
Routes by Faction: Bags You Pass on the Way
Only detour for a bag when it saves more trips to town than the detour costs. These routes keep every stop on a normal leveling path.
Alliance
- Levels 1–6: your race's starting-zone bag.
- Level 9+: Poor Old Blanchy in Westfall, or the Buzzbox chain if you level in Darkshore.
- Levels 14–20: Stepping Stones for two 12-slot bags, and Vyrin's Revenge if you pass through Loch Modan.
- Any time you run Wailing Caverns: Deviate Hides for a 10-slot pack.
Horde
- Levels 1–6: your race's starting-zone bag.
- Level 9+: Parts and Pieces in Ratchet while you quest through the Barrens.
- Levels 13–20: Deviate Hides in Wailing Caverns, then Stepping Stones for two 12-slot bags.
- Level 23+: Stronger than Steel for a 12-slot Spidersilk Pouch.
Once you carry four bags of 10 slots or more, skip the remaining small quest bags unless the quest is on your route anyway. Full zone-by-zone routes are in the Alliance and Horde leveling guides.
Common Questions
What is the fastest way to get a 12-slot bag in WoW Forever?
Stepping Stones, from level 14. It is the second step of the Cozy Sleeping Bag chain and rewards both the Old Toolbox and the Sturdy Lunchbox, two 12-slot bags. The chain crosses both continents, so it is quickest once you have a few flight paths.
Is Parts and Pieces available to the Alliance?
It is a Horde quest in Ratchet. Alliance players get their 8-slot bag from Poor Old Blanchy in Westfall or the Buzzbox chain in Darkshore instead.
Do I choose between the Deviate Hide Pack and the leggings?
Not in Forever. Deviate Hides now gives the 10-slot pack and the leggings together.
Should I buy bags or wait for quest bags?
Fill all four bag slots as early as you can, even with 6-slot pouches at 5 silver each. Four small bags hold more than one big bag and three empty slots. Replace them one by one as quest bags arrive.
What is a reagent bag?
A Forever bag type for crafting materials, made by Tailors and Leatherworkers from 6 to 10 slots. It keeps ore, herbs, leather and cloth out of your main bags.
