Combat in WoW Forever keeps the pace and feel of Classic: deliberate, tactical, and class-driven. A solo player can expect an ordinary creature to take roughly 10 to 15 seconds to defeat, crowd control still earns its place in dungeons, and damage dealers still respect threat.
Within that familiar rhythm, every class gets revised talents, gearing becomes less solved, and the Paladin receives the clearest example of the new design: more tools for each specialization while keeping the gaps that make the class distinct.
Revised Talent Trees With a New 16-Point MilestoneChanged

Every class keeps three familiar trees with the same number of rows. Some talents stay exactly as they were in patch 1.12, others are adjusted or improved, and the one-point milestones at 11, 21, and 31 points are now joined by a new milestone at 16.
Talents that granted key class buffs, such as Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings, and Improved Mark of the Wild, are now baseline for their classes. That frees points for talents you notice in play, with meaningful trade-offs between them.

|---|---|
| Patch 1.12 trees, with one-point milestone talents at 11, 21, and 31 points and key group buffs locked behind talent points. | The same rows and structure, a new 16-point milestone, and key group buffs moved into the baseline class. |
One Hit Stat and One Crit Stat for Every AttackChanged

Hit and critical strike now apply to spells, melee, and ranged attacks alike. Hybrid specializations such as Retribution Paladins and Enhancement Shaman no longer split their gear between two versions of the same stat.
Warriors, Hunters, and Rogues benefit too: combined hit improves the reliability of tools such as Taunts, Poisons, and Traps.
| Classic Baseline | WoW Forever Overhaul |
|---|---|
| Spell hit and spell crit were separate stats from melee and ranged hit and crit. | Spell, melee, and ranged hit chance are combined, and so are spell, melee, and ranged critical strike chance. |
Items and Stats: An Unsolved Road to 60Changed
Forever keeps the familiar Classic stats while reworking several of them. Items with weapon skill offer less of it per item, so they are no longer always the obvious pick. Bonus healing now also grants one third as much bonus damage, which gives healers more support while questing.
New stats widen your choices: some items reduce the chance for your attacks to be parried or dodged, and spellcaster weapons now grant spell damage and healing, so casters can look forward to level-up weapons the way Warriors, Rogues, and Hunters do. Trinkets lean into situational effects, and some items shine in specific terrain such as Woodlands, Mountains, or Deserts, or against specific creature types.
Every dungeon drop has been re-examined, unique dungeon boss items are now blue quality, and set bonuses are more useful. Quest rewards cover more roles: Mor'ladim's quest in Duskwood still offers a two-handed sword and now also the Ladimore Heirloom Ring for spellcasters.
| Classic Baseline | WoW Forever Overhaul |
|---|---|
| A well-known gear path, with weapon skill items as the obvious choice for many melee players. | Reworked and new stats, situational trinkets, re-examined dungeon drops, and quest rewards for more classes and roles. |
What Changes on Your Gear
- Weapon skill: less per item.
- Bonus healing: also adds one third as much bonus damage.
- New: stats that reduce the chance to be parried or dodged.
- Caster weapons: spell damage and healing built in.
- Dungeon bosses: unique items are blue quality.
Paladin: Holy Strike From Level 6New

Holy Strike gives Paladins an active button from their first levels. It strikes for part of your weapon damage plus extra Holy damage, and several new talents build on it.
Holy Paladins can shorten its cooldown with Improved Holy Strike, Protection Paladins turn it into damage reduction with Iron Creed, and Retribution Paladins use Sacred Arbiter to make it refresh Judgement effects on the target.
| Classic Baseline | WoW Forever Overhaul |
|---|---|
| No early instant weapon strike for Paladins. | Every Paladin learns Holy Strike at level 6: an instant strike that deals Holy damage on a 12-second cooldown. |
Paladin: Seals That Stay, a Tanking Seal, and Baseline ConsecrationChanged

Casting Judgement no longer consumes your Seal, which cuts out much of the recasting. Seal of Fury, learned at level 10, adds Holy damage to your melee attacks and, while you wear a shield, grants a small absorb shield. Judging it taunts the target, so Paladins reach their taunt through the Seal and Judgement system rather than a single button.
Consecration is baseline at level 20 and deals its heaviest damage and threat to the first four enemies in the area, making it a tanking and damage tool without clearing whole rooms on its own.
Each tree adds its own tools. Holy gains Infusion of Light, Voice of Truth, Reverence, and Light's Vigil. Protection gains Improved Seal of Fury, Swift Judgement, Templar's Bulwark, and Iron Creed, and Reckoning now also triggers from blocks. Retribution gains Sacred Arbiter, Champion of the Light, Instrument of Law, and Twist of Light, which lets a replaced Seal echo into your next swing.
| Classic Baseline | WoW Forever Overhaul |
|---|---|
| Judgement consumed your Seal, Consecration was a Holy talent, and Paladins had no taunt of their own. | Judgement keeps the Seal active, Seal of Fury gives tanks a taunting Seal, and Consecration is trained at level 20. |
Paladin Toolkit at a Glance
- Level 6: Holy Strike, 12-second cooldown.
- Level 10: Seal of Fury, the tanking Seal; its Judgement taunts.
- Level 20: Consecration, strongest on the first four enemies.
- Judgement no longer consumes your Seal.
Paladins and Shaman on Both FactionsChanged
Two of the six new race and class combinations remove the oldest faction lock in the game. The Forsaken can become Paladins, and Dwarves can become Shaman.
Skyborne add another route: Horde-aligned Skyborne can play Shaman, and Alliance-aligned Skyborne can play Mage.
| Classic Baseline | WoW Forever Overhaul |
|---|---|
| Paladins were Alliance only and Shaman were Horde only. | Undead Paladin and Dwarf Shaman open both classes to both factions, and Skyborne add further Shaman and Mage options. |
Getting Ready for Launch
- Plan your build in the Talent Calculator: the new 16-point milestone changes where many specs spend their early points.
- Hybrids can gear from a single pool of hit and crit items, so keep upgrades that suit your role rather than your damage type.
- Paladin tanks should train Seal of Fury at level 10 and Consecration at level 20 before their first serious dungeon runs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Paladins still use Seals and Judgement?
Yes. Seals and Judgement are still the heart of the class. Judgement simply no longer consumes your Seal, and Seal of Fury adds a Seal built for tanking.
How many talent points do I get?
You still earn 51 talent points by level 60, starting at level 10. The Talented Legacy perk lets a character start earning them at level 9.
