About Kalimdor
Kalimdor is the oldest inhabited land in Azeroth. Ten thousand years ago it held the night elf empire, a kingdom of gilded spires and moonlit causeways ruled from the shores of the Well of Eternity. When Queen Azshara’s Highborne opened the door to the Burning Legion, the Well’s destruction shattered that world; what survived was the wild forest of Ashenvale, the slopes of Mount Hyjal, and a people who chose to sleep, watch, and wait.
The land has been settled again since. After the Third War, the night elves, the Horde, and the human survivors of Lordaeron stood together against Archimonde on Mount Hyjal and then went their separate ways. Thrall led his orcs to the red canyons of Durotar and named their capital Orgrimmar. The tauren, freed from a long war with the centaur, built Thunder Bluff over the plains of Mulgore. Jaina Proudmoore’s human refugees founded Theramore in the marsh.
It is a continent of contrasts: rain-soaked forests, sun-baked deserts, and the buried gates of Ahn’Qiraj waiting in the south.
The journey here climbs from the shores of Durotar and Teldrassil to the frozen reaches of Winterspring and the gates of Ahn’Qiraj, with Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and Darnassus along the way. Every zone below links to its full faction leveling guide, flight paths, and dungeon entrances.
