About Arathi Highlands
The Arathi Highlands are humanity’s first home. When the warlord Thoradin united the human tribes against the Amani, he built Strom, his capital, near here, and from it the kingdom of Arathor grew. The high grasslands were the frontier where farmers, soldiers, and mages held the line against the trolls.
Arathor is long gone, but its capital survived as Stromgarde Keep, the last stronghold of that legacy, home to the human lords of the highlands and the ogres who now squat in its ruins. The Alliance’s Refuge Pointe and the Horde’s Hammerfall face each other across the moors, and the old feud between men and trolls is now only one of many.
Stromgarde Keep, ogre mounds, and troll ruins crowd the map, while Refuge Pointe and Hammerfall hold opposite ends of the land. Head east and you reach the entrance to Arathi Basin.
