About Barrow Deeps

Under Hyjal the night elves cut the barrow dens, and it was there that the druids began the long sleep — bodies left in the roots of the world while their minds went into the Emerald Dream, for a century at a time, for as long as Malfurion's order has existed. The dens were built to be safe. They were also built to hold things, which is not the same requirement, and the deeps were used for both.

What sleeps down there is not all of it druids. The dens go further than the caretakers do, and the lower deeps have been closed since the night they were needed for something other than rest. The order does not discuss those levels and has never drawn a full map of them.

The sleepers have begun to wake badly. Whatever is reaching them is reaching them through the Dream itself, which means the barrow dens are no longer the safest place on Azeroth to be unconscious — they are the most exposed.

First Run

  • The deeps lie beneath Mount Hyjal.
  • Ten players at maximum level.
  • Unlocks December 9, 2026, with Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair.

Veteran Notes

  • Ten players, maximum level — the smallest raid roster in the opening tier.
  • Boss list and interior maps have not appeared in the client data yet.

Changes in Forever

  • A new raid, and a new raid size. Classic has nothing built for ten players at maximum level. Barrow Deeps opens the first tier alongside Hyjal Summit for twenty and Onyxia's Lair for forty, on December 9, 2026.
