Zone Map & Leveling Guide

Mulgore, the peaceful tauren grasslands beneath Thunder Bluff, and the first home of every tauren adventurer.

About Mulgore

For generations the tauren never had a home to keep. They followed their herds across Kalimdor, folded their tents at every threat, and paid in blood whenever the centaur found them. It was Thrall’s Horde, fighting beside them in the Barrens, that finally broke the cycle, and Cairne Bloodhoof led his people west into the tall grass of Mulgore to stay.

The plains are still a place of quiet devotion. The tauren honor the Earth Mother, and the seasons pass over Bloodhoof Village to the sound of drums. Quilboar from the south press against the borders, but the tauren no longer move away from trouble, and Thunder Bluff rises above the grass as proof of it.

Wide grassy plains, wandering plainstriders, and the hearth fires of Bloodhoof Village make Mulgore one of the most relaxing starting zones in Azeroth. Thunder Bluff towers above the northern plains, and the road east descends into the Barrens.

Mulgore Leveling Guide for the Horde, Levels 1–13

Mulgore is the tauren starting zone, an open grass plain with two bases: Camp Narache on the southern mesa for your first levels, and Bloodhoof Village in the middle for everything after 4. You finish in the north, at Red Rocks east of Thunder Bluff, around level 10 to 13. Skyborne Horde characters land in Mulgore by airship from Zephras Isle and begin the Barrens road from here.

The plain is gentle: plainstriders and cougars at the camp (1 to 3), prairie wolves, swoops and cougars around the village (5 to 9), Galak centaurs and Windfury harpies in the far hills (8 to 10). Forever adds a dozen new quests around the village, marked as you reach them.

1Camp Narache: Your First HourLevel 1–5

You start on the mesa of Camp Narache. Grull Hawkwind and the chief stand by the big tent in the middle, and plainstriders roam the grass all around the camp.

The first quests send you south to Seer Graytongue and the Brambleblade Ravine, where the Battleboars graze north of the shrine and the Bristleback quilboar hold the ravine to the northeast. Chief Sharptusk Thornmantle is at its eastern end.

  • 4Seer Graytongue 42.5, 90.1: Rite of Strength, and the new Grace of An'she and Mu'sha. The incense burns out in ten minutes, so run straight east along the southern hills to the Ritual Fire.
  • Brambleblade Ravine: Battleboars (3–4) and the Bristleback Shamans (3–4); the Dirt-stained Map lies on the ground in the camp. Chief Sharptusk Thornmantle (5) is at the eastern end. Hand in everything to the chief and take Rites of the Earthmother to Baine in Bloodhoof.

2Bloodhoof Village: The HubLevel 4–10

Follow the road north out of Red Cloud Mesa. Kaga Wildhoof waits on the road just south of Bloodhoof Village; build the campfire next to her for The Great Outdoors. Bind your hearthstone at the inn and take everything on offer.

Mull Thunderhorn gives the three water-well cleansings, Baine Bloodhoof the plains jobs, and Morin Cloudstalker sends you out to the Venture Co. mine.
