Zone Map & Leveling Guide

Feralas, the lush coastal jungle of Feathermoon Stronghold, Camp Mojache, and the ruins of Dire Maul.

About Feralas

Feralas has always been where Kalimdor’s old civilizations pressed close to each other. Long before the Sundering, Queen Azshara’s explorers founded Eldre’Thalas here, a grand city and library. The Highborne who kept it called themselves the Shen’dralar, Those Who Remain Hidden, and their ruined city, now known as Dire Maul, is still here: a sprawling maze of towers that ogres and demons have long since claimed.

The night elves’ Feathermoon Stronghold guards the shore, the tauren of Camp Mojache hold the forest, and the Twin Colossals watch over both. Feralas is the kind of place where giant trees and titan-old stones take turns getting your attention, and Dire Maul is at its center like a bruise.

Giant trees, ogre camps, and ancient elven ruins make Feralas one of the most beautiful zones on Kalimdor, and Dire Maul, a sprawling late-level dungeon split into wings, waits in the heart of it.

Feralas Leveling Guide for the Alliance, Levels 39–55

Feralas is the big green jungle on the south-west coast of Kalimdor, and the Alliance base is Feathermoon Stronghold on Sardor Isle, an island off the west coast. Almost every quest starts there and then reaches the mainland by boat from the Forgotten Coast dock: the yeti valleys and Gordunni ogres in the middle, the Grimtotem camp in the east, and the giants and harpies in the north.

Monsters run from level 43 to 44 Hatecrest naga and Feral Scar yetis to 48 to 50 Land Walkers, Cliff Giants and Northspring harpies. Lord Shalzaru, on the Isle of Dread, is level 47. Every Feralas quest item is a quest-only drop, so there is nothing to buy at the auction house first.

1Feathermoon Stronghold: Pick Up the IslandLevel 39–46

Fly to Nijel's Point, ride south out of Desolace into Feralas and follow the road west to the Forgotten Coast dock; the boat crosses to Feathermoon on Sardor Isle. Take the flight point and bind your hearthstone at the inn, then talk to everyone: Shandris Feathermoon, Latronicus Moonspear, Ginro Hearthkindle, Angelas and Troyas Moonbreeze and Pratt McGrubben all give quests.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 1 numbered
  • 1Shandris Feathermoon 30.3, 46.2: The Ruins of Solarsal, then Against the Hatecrest.
  • 2Latronicus Moonspear 30.4, 46.2: The Missing Courier, Against the Hatecrest and Against Lord Shalzaru.
  • 3Ginro Hearthkindle 31.9, 45.1: the courier's trail, which runs through Boat Wreckage, The Knife Revealed, The Woodpaw Gnolls and later A Hero's Welcome.
  • 4Angelas Moonbreeze 31.8, 45.6: The High Wilderness; Troyas Moonbreeze 31.8, 45.5 has In Search of Knowledge.
  • 5Pratt McGrubben 30.6, 42.7: The Mark of Quality and Improved Quality.
  • 6Quintis Jonespyre 32.5, 43.8: Psychometric Reading.

2The Ruins of Solarsal and the Isle of DreadLevel 40–45

Walk south along the island to the naga ruins; the gazebo stands among them. Every Hatecrest naga there can drop scales, so take the 10 scales for Latronicus on the same visit.

Later, swim south from the island to the Isle of Dread. Hatecrest Serpent Guards (44 to 45) and Sorceresses hold it; Lord Shalzaru (47) waits in the cave at its south end. Pull his guards first. Bring the relic back to Vestia Moonspear.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 2 numbered
  • 1Hatecrest naga 28.8, 50.8: 10 Hatecrest Naga Scales for Against the Hatecrest.
  • 2Lord Shalzaru's cave 28.5, 70.5: the Mysterious Relic for Against Lord Shalzaru.
  • 3Vestia Moonspear 30.1, 45.1: Delivering the Relic.

3Yetis and Gordunni OgresLevel 40–48

The yeti hides come from the Feral Scar yetis in the valley on the mainland (43 to 44), the Rage Scar yetis in the hills (46 to 47) and, rarely, a Pristine Yeti Hide. Bloodroar the Stalker (48) prowls the middle of the valley.

The Gordunni camp lies in the hills south-east of the yeti valley: Warlocks and Shamans hold it, Brutes wander the slopes around it.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 3 numbered
  • 1Feral Scar Vale 55.9, 58.8: 10 Thick Yeti Hides for The Mark of Quality.
  • 2Rage Scar hills 55.3, 53.8: 10 Rage Scar Yeti Hides for Improved Quality; a Pristine Yeti Hide may drop for Pristine Yeti Hide.
  • 3Gordunni camp 58.4, 66.6: 8 Warlocks, 8 Shamans 58.4, 67.5 and the Brutes for The High Wilderness.

4The Courier and the Writhing DeepLevel 40–46

The courier's trail starts on the beach: take the boat to the Forgotten Coast and follow the shore south to the wrecked row boat. From there the trail runs through the Woodpaw gnoll camps in the south-east; the courier's backpacks lie in their southern camp, and a parcel inside them starts a delivery to Thalanaar.

The Zukk'ash hive is just south: fight down to the pod that holds Raschal, free him and keep him alive on the way out. Thalanaar, the night elf outpost on the Thousand Needles border, takes the parcel.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 4 numbered
  • 1Thalanaar 89.6, 46.6: deliver the parcel to Falfindel Waywarder in Thalanaar for Thalanaar Delivery.
  • 2Writhing Deep: free Raschal for Freed from the Hive and bring him to Ginro Hearthkindle 31.9, 45.1.

5The Grimtotem CampLevel 38–47

Boat to the Forgotten Coast and ride east across Feralas to the Grimtotem camp north of the road. Kindal Moonweaver waits outside it: free the Sprite Darters from the pen in the middle and keep Kindal and at least six of them alive. Jer'kai Moonweaver wants Grimtotem Naturalists (41 to 42), Raiders (42 to 43) and Shamans (43 to 44), and his signet ring goes to Tyrande in Darnassus.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 5 numbered

6Rockbiter, Shay and GreganLevel 44–52

Rockbiter is the friendly mountain giant at the foot of the hills; the Land Walkers and Cliff Giants around him are elite, so give them room. Shay Leafrunner wanders the hills north of him among the Northspring harpies; her bell is in the chest beside her. Ring the bell whenever Shay stops to wander, and lead her south to Rockbiter.

Gregan Brewspewer, in the north, wants a Bloodpetal for A Visit to Gregan and the Videre Elixir is collected there.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 6 numbered
  • 1Rockbiter 42.4, 22.0: The Giant Guardian.
  • 2Shay Leafrunner 38.2, 10.3: Wandering Shay; take the bell from the chest beside her.
  • 3Gregan Brewspewer 45.1, 25.6: A Visit to Gregan and The Videre Elixir.

7Zorbin Fandazzle and the Forgotten CoastLevel 45–55

Zorbin's quests need level 45. The Shore, Deep and Wave Striders (elite giants) wade along the coast north of the dock: zap one with Zorbin's Ultra-Shrinker and kill the shrunken giant; Sea Elementals and Sea Sprays drift in the same surf. The first pair of quests asks for 15 residues and 10 cores, the repeat for 10 residues and 6 cores.

At 46 and above, Angelas Moonbreeze has The Sunken Temple, which sends you to Marvon Rivetseeker in Tanaris.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 7 numbered
  • 1Zorbin Fandazzle 44.8, 43.4: Zapped Giants and Fuel for the Zapping, later Again With the Zapped Giants and Refuel for the Zapping.
  • 2Coast 44.3, 46.6: Miniaturization Residue from the zapped giants, and Water Elemental Cores 45.0, 46.3.

Feralas Leveling Guide for the Horde, Levels 38–56

Feralas is the big green jungle on the south-west coast of Kalimdor, and the Horde base is Camp Mojache in the east. Almost every quest starts there and spreads out in rings: the Woodpaw gnolls and sprite darters near the camp, the Gordunni ogres to the north and south, the Zukk'ash hive to the south-east, and the yeti valleys, the Forgotten Coast and the Northspring harpies in the west.

Monsters run from level 40 Woodpaw gnolls and Gordunni ogres to 48 to 50 Northspring harpies and 51 to 52 Angerclaw grizzlies. Every Feralas quest item is a quest-only drop, so there is nothing to buy at the auction house first.

1Camp Mojache: Pick Up the CampLevel 38–47

Ride west from Freewind Post through the canyons past Whitereach Post; the road climbs into the Feralas jungle and on to Camp Mojache. Take the flight point and bind your hearthstone at the inn, then take everything: the camp hands out most of the zone's quests.

2Near the Camp: Gnolls, Darters and the GrimtotemLevel 38–45

The Woodpaw gnolls camp in the hills just north-west of Mojache, and any of them can drop a mane. The Woodpaw alphas lead the camps south-west of it: kill them within the hour. The sprite darters flit over the grove just west of the camp, and nearly every one drops a wing. The Grimtotem camp sits beside the grove; raiders, naturalists and shamans all carry horns. The battle map lies in the Woodpaw camp south of Mojache.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 2 numbered
  • 1Woodpaw camp 73.2, 39.8: 10 Woodpaw Gnoll Manes.
  • 2Sprite darter grove 70.2, 46.6: 10 Iridescent Sprite Darter Wings.

  • 4Woodpaw alphas 66.1, 51.6: 5 Woodpaw Alphas for Alpha Strike.

3The Gordunni OgresLevel 38–46

North of the gnolls the ogres hold a hilltop outpost; pull the ogre mages to you. The cobalt is in the dirt mounds around the outpost, and the scroll lies on the ground inside it.

The southern ruins lie south-west, below Feral Scar Vale: Shamans, Warlocks and Maulers fill them, and the Mage-Lords at the southern end carry the orb.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 3 numbered

  • 4Mage-Lords 60.3, 67.2: the Gordunni Orb for Dark Ceremony.

4The Writhing Deep and the Muisek QuestsLevel 39–50

The Zukk'ash hive burrows into the hills south-east of the camp; Stinglasher waits in its deepest chamber.

Witch Doctor Uzer'i's Muisek quests send you across the zone: the hippogryph, the wildkin, the sprite darters, the Wandering Forest Walkers (a few treants along the forest paths) and the mountain giants. Use the vessel on each body after the kill. The Rogue Vale Screecher is a separate task: kill one, use Yeh'kinya's Bramble on its body and kill the spirit that rises.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 4 numbered

5Yetis, the Coast and the NorthLevel 40–52

The Feral Scar yetis den south-west in the vale, the Rage Scar yetis around the caves in the hills north-west along the road, and any of them can drop hides. The Forgotten Coast is west: Zorbin waits on the dock, and the OOX-22/FE beacon drops from the Coast Crawl Deepseers and Snapclaws on the beaches about one kill in forty; with it, the robot sits in a small cave on the north side of Feral Scar Vale, and yetis and gorillas ambush you on the escort.

The Northspring harpies nest on the ridges in the far north-west. They are 48 to 50, a few levels above you: the Windcallers heal, so kill them first and pull one at a time. The Angerclaw grizzlies and Felpaw ravagers for The Strength of Corruption are in Felwood.

Map of Feralas with the stops of part 5 numbered
  • 1Feral Scar Vale 55.3, 53.8: 10 Thick Yeti Hides for The Mark of Quality.
