Zone Map & Leveling Guide

Felwood, the corrupted forest north of Ashenvale where demons, satyrs, and tainted furbolgs roam.

About Felwood

Felwood was once as green as Ashenvale. During the Third War, the dreadlord Tichondrius took the Skull of Gul’dan and poured its fel energies into the earth, and the forest began to twist. The taint spread up the slopes of Hyjal until Illidan Stormrage took the skull for himself and struck the Legion a grave blow, but the forest never healed.

Now the trees are sickly and green-gray, the Timbermaw furbolgs guard their last refuge in the mountains, and the druids of the Cenarion Circle at Emerald Sanctuary cleanse what they can. Felwood is a warning that the war ended without the earth being whole.

Emerald Sanctuary and Bloodvenom Post are the main footholds. The forest links Ashenvale to Winterspring and Moonglade, and its cleansing quests are staples of the late-level journey.

Felwood Leveling Guide for the Alliance, Levels 48–58

Felwood is the corrupted forest north of Ashenvale, and the Alliance base is the Emerald Sanctuary at the south end of the road, where Eridan Bluewind, Greta Mosshoof, Taronn Redfeather, Jessir Moonbow and Grazle all stand within a short walk. From there the quests spread north along the road: the satyrs and cultists of Jaedenar in the middle, the cratered Shatter Scar Vale and Irontree Woods, and the furbolgs at Timbermaw Hold in the far north.

Monsters run from level 48 to 50 Deadwood furbolgs by the Sanctuary to level 53 to 55 Jadefire satyrs and Xavaric and to the level 56 succubus Rakaiah in Jaedenar. Nearly every quest item is a quest-only drop. The one tradeable item is the Runecloth for Meilosh.

1Before You Start: The Auction House

Meilosh at Timbermaw Hold asks for 30 Runecloth for Runecloth. It is tradeable, so a visit to the auction house first saves the farming.

2The Emerald Sanctuary: Pick Up the CampLevel 45–56

Ride north out of Astranaar into Felwood. Grazle the furbolg stands by the road just south of the Emerald Sanctuary; take the flight point at the Sanctuary and bind your hearthstone. Eridan Bluewind, Greta Mosshoof, Taronn Redfeather, Jessir Moonbow and Arathandris Silversky are all there and between them hand out most of the zone's quests.

Grazle's Timbermaw Ally wants the Deadwood furbolgs south of the Sanctuary; their headdress feathers matter later for Nafien at Timbermaw Hold.

Map of Felwood with the stops of part 2 numbered
  • 1Grazle 50.9, 85.0: Timbermaw Ally and Feathers for Grazle; the Deadwood Warriors, Pathfinders and Gardeners are close by 49.7, 88.2.
  • 2Eridan Bluewind 51.4, 81.5: The Corruption of the Jadefire, Further Corruption, Felbound Ancients, Silver Heart, Purified! and Aquementas.

3Jadefire Run and the Jadefire SatyrsLevel 49–55

The Jadefire satyrs hold the glens west and north of the Sanctuary: Felsworn near the road, Shadowstalkers and Rogues in the south-west, and the Hellcallers, Betrayers and Tricksters in Jadefire Run in the north, where Xavaric waits. The Vial of Blessed Water for Felbound Ancients lies west of the Sanctuary.

4JaedenarLevel 48–57

Jaedenar is the ruined temple north of the glen. Some of its cultists drop a Blood Red Key, about one kill in thirty: it opens Arko'narin's cell in Shadow Hold, the cave at the back. If it drops, clear the way out before you free her and keep her alive until she is out of the cave; if not, skip her quests.

Use the empty canteen at the corrupted moonwell in the middle of Jaedenar. If you freed Arko'narin, go back into Shadow Hold for the succubus Rakaiah (56); Trey Lightforge's remains lie beside her. The braziers for Dousing the Flames of Protection stand in the temple, and the Shadow Lord's head for A Final Blow is with Moora and Salia north of the temple.

5Oozes, Shatter Scar Vale and Irontree WoodsLevel 48–55

The Cursed and Tainted Oozes slide about the streams and fel pools around Jaedenar and Bloodvenom Falls: kill them and use Laris's Empty Ooze Jars on their remains. In Shatter Scar Vale, follow the road north to the cratered vale and walk to each crater, killing the Entropic Beasts and Horrors between them.

The Warpwood treants of Irontree Woods, east of Jadefire Run, carry the Blood Amber. The Silvery Claws for Silver Heart come from the Angerclaw bears and Felpaw wolves.

Map of Felwood with the stops of part 5 numbered
  • 1Cursed Oozes 40.2, 65.8: 6 Filled Cursed Ooze Jars; Tainted Oozes 40.7, 59.7: 6 Tainted.
  • 2Shatter Scar Vale 41.3, 43.8: 2 Entropic Beasts and 2 Entropic Horrors for Verifying the Corruption.

6Timbermaw HoldLevel 45–57

Follow the road north to the cave mouth of Timbermaw Hold; Nafien guards it. Step into the cave: Kernda and Meilosh stand just inside. Winterspring's Salfa waits on the other side. The Deadwood furbolgs of the north (53 to 55) drop the feathers for Nafien and Grazle.

Felwood Leveling Guide for the Horde, Levels 46–58

Felwood is the corrupted forest north of Ashenvale. The Horde quests start at Bloodvenom Post in the west of the forest, where Dreka'Sur, Winna Hazzard and Trull Failbane stand, and at the Emerald Sanctuary at the south end of the road for the later chains. The first trip is about corruption in the west: Overlord Ror's claw, the filled flasket and the owlbeasts; the second is the Sanctuary chains at level 54 and above.

Monsters run from level 51 Overlord Ror and Angerclaw bears to level 54 to 58 owlbeasts and the Moora and Salia pair. Nearly every quest item is a quest-only drop, so there is nothing to buy at the auction house first.
