About Swamp of Sorrows
The Swamp of Sorrows is old and it is bitter. Long before the orcs arrived, the Gurubashi trolls of Stranglethorn worshipped Hakkar, the Soulflayer, a blood god who demanded ever more sacrifices. When the Zandalari trolls stormed Zul’Gurub and drove the god’s spirit out of the world, his fanatical Atal’ai priests fled north to the swamp and raised the Temple of Atal’Hakkar in the marsh, hoping to call him back.
The temple sank into the Pool of Tears long ago, but the swamp still feels like the edge of an old wound. Dragonkin, lost ones, and orcs who stayed after the wars all find the same soggy ground beneath their feet.
Stonard, the Horde’s town in these murky swamps, is ringed by the ruins of old troll temples. The Temple of Atal’Hakkar lies sunken in the Pool of Tears, a dungeon for players in their mid-forties.

Swamp of Sorrows Leveling Guide for the Alliance, Levels 30–43
The Swamp of Sorrows is the low, wet marsh in the south-east of the Eastern Kingdoms, and the Alliance work here is a handful of quests from Watcher Biggs in the west, Magtoor in the north and Galen Goodward in the north-east. The quests are short and spread out: a crocolisk and jaguar hunt near Biggs, crystals and an escort in the east.
Monsters run from level 35 to 36 crocolisks to level 36 to 37 Sorrow Spinners and Swamp Jaguars. Every quest item is a quest-only drop, so there is nothing to buy at the auction house first.
1Watcher Biggs: Wildlife and DriftwoodLevel 30–42
Watcher Biggs gives the zone's hunting quests: eight Young Sawtooth Crocolisks, ten Sorrow Spinners and ten Swamp Jaguars, all close to his post. The Lost Caravan sends you east for a bundle of the Wizards' Reagents, and Driftwood asks for eight pieces of sundried driftwood from the far east coast, at level 42. Deliver the Shipment is the quest that ends at Nethergarde Keep.

Swamp of Sorrows Leveling Guide for the Horde, Levels 30–45
The Swamp of Sorrows is the low, wet marsh in the south-east of the Eastern Kingdoms, and the Horde base is Stonard, where Dar, Fel'zerul and Helgrum the Swift stand within a short walk. Misty Reed Post on the south-east shore, where Tok'Kar and Katar wait, is the other camp. The quests are short: crocolisks, crabs and murlocs, the Pool of Tears, and Galen's escape.
Monsters are mostly level 41 to 45 Marsh murlocs at Misty Reed Post. Every quest item is a quest-only drop, so there is nothing to buy at the auction house first.
1Stonard: Pick Up the TownLevel 35–44
Dar sends you for fresh crocolisk flank and crab legs, Fel'zerul wants Atal'ai artifacts from the Pool of Tears, and Helgrum takes the hand-in for Neeka's report. Magtoor, in the north of the zone, takes the Noboru the Cudgel hand-in.

2Misty Reed Post: Murlocs and CrocolisksLevel 35–45
Misty Reed Post is the small Horde post on the southern shore. The Marsh Murlocs live on the strand south of the post; the Inkspewers are along the shore east of it and the Flesheaters further west, around the huts on the western shore. The same murlocs and the Oracles come back for Continued Threat. The Monstrous Crawlers walk the beaches of the east coast, few and far between: kill every one you see on the way south.
