About Elwynn Forest
Elwynn is the green heart of Stormwind’s kingdom. Farms, orchards, and quiet lakes stretch out beneath the city walls, and for generations the forest has fed the capital and sheltered the pilgrims who walk to Northshire Abbey, where the Holy Order of Northshire Clerics has trained healers since long before the First War.
The forest has also been a battlefield. When Blackhand’s orcs besieged Stormwind, thousands of Horde soldiers flooded through Elwynn to seal the city off, and it was here that Anduin Lothar’s knights charged out of the trees to break the siege. The kobolds, gnolls, and bandits that trouble the roads today are a small echo of a much darker year.
Few starting zones welcome you as warmly. Rolling meadows, quiet lakes, and the busy crossroads of Goldshire set the tone, and Northshire Valley eases new heroes into their first fights before the road opens toward Stormwind. Kobold mines, gnoll camps, and the Defias Brotherhood keep the city’s guards busy along the way, and once Elwynn is behind you, Westfall and Loch Modan are the natural next steps.

Elwynn Forest Leveling Guide for the Alliance, Levels 1–10
Elwynn Forest is where human characters begin, and it teaches the whole questing loop: take a hub's quests, clear the woods around it, then hand in. You start at Northshire Abbey in the northwest, move to Goldshire in the middle at level 4 or 5, and finish in the east around level 10, ready for Westfall.
Monsters run from level 1 kobolds at the abbey to level 9 and 10 wolves and Defias wizards in the east, so the guide goes from easy to hard. Forever also adds a run of new quests here: Paxton's books at the abbey, Sam Sarsaparilla's camp and the lake errands near Goldshire, and several jobs in the east.
1Before You Start: The Auction House
Almost everything in Elwynn is a quest item that drops as you fight, so the auction house has very little to offer here. The one tradeable drop is the boar meat for Pie for Billy. If you are fighting boars on the way to the Maclure Vineyards anyway, you will pick it up for free; if you would rather skip the kills, buy four.
| Item | Buy | For quest |
|---|---|---|
| Chunk of Boar Meat | 4 | Pie for Billy |
2Northshire Abbey: Pick Up EverythingLevel 1–3
Everyone starts in the abbey yard, and nearly every quest of the first hour is on one small square. Take them all before you fight: the kobolds, wolves and thieves you need are within a few steps of the abbey, so the whole yard is done in one pass.
The first kobold quest only needs level 1 monsters, and each next one steps up a level, so leave the abbey grounds in the order below.

- 1Marshal McBride in front of the abbey 48.9, 41.6: hand in A Threat Within, then take Kobold Camp Cleanup and Investigate Echo Ridge. Skirmish at Echo Ridge follows once you hand in the first.
- 2Deputy Willem 48.2, 42.9: Eagan Peltskinner, Brotherhood of Thieves, Bounty on Garrick Padfoot and Milly Osworth.
- 3Eagan Peltskinner 48.9, 40.2: Wolves Across the Border, eight Tough Wolf Meat from the wolves around the abbey.
- 4Brother Paxton in the abbey 49.6, 40.4: new in Forever, Book Inventory (hand it to Daniel next door 49.5, 40.7), Rascally Rodents, and Mining Consultant, which sends you to Kelsey Fargo at the mine later.
- 5Milly Osworth 50.7, 39.4: Milly's Harvest and then Grape Manifest, which goes to Brother Neals inside the abbey 49.5, 41.6.
- 6Falkhaan Isenstrider 45.6, 47.7: Rest and Relaxation, to hand in at the Goldshire inn on the way out.
3The Vineyards and Echo Ridge: Finish the AbbeyLevel 1–5
Start with the open ground east and north of the abbey, where level 1 and 2 monsters wait, then climb to Echo Ridge Mine for the level 3 and 4 kobolds. Wolf meat, bandanas, the grapes and the Padfoot bounty are all within the same small area east of the road, so one loop clears them.
Garrick Padfoot's quest is level 5, a step above the rest of this loop, so do him last, after the wolves and the grapes.

- 1Kobold Vermin by the abbey 48.1, 37.0: ten Kobold Vermin (1–2) for Kobold Camp Cleanup.
- 2The woods around the road 50.9, 44.4: eight pieces of Tough Wolf Meat for Wolves Across the Border.
- 3The vineyard rows 53.6, 47.0: eight crates of Milly's Harvest from the vines.
- 4The thieves east of the road 51.8, 47.4: twelve Red Burlap Bandanas for Brotherhood of Thieves.
- 5Garrick Padfoot 57.5, 48.3: kill him and take Garrick's Head.
- 6The Echo Ridge Mine area 50.8, 37.9: ten Kobold Workers (3) for Investigate Echo Ridge, and the Stolen Books for Paxton's Rascally Rodents.
- 7The northern end of the ridge 47.8, 31.6: twelve Kobold Laborers (3–4) for Skirmish at Echo Ridge. Kelsey Fargo 47.2, 32.2 gives The Big Picture; the sack of picture books it asks for is on the ridge 49.2, 28.0.
- 8Back at the abbey 48.9, 41.6: hand in everything, then take Report to Goldshire and Follow That Kobold! (the second sends you to Tordrin Sternblade 51.2, 40.8). Hand in Garrick's head, the bandanas, Milly's grapes and Eagan's meat on the way past.
4Goldshire: The Hub of the ZoneLevel 4–6
Follow the road south to Goldshire. Marshal Dughan, the inn and every kobold quest of the next hour are within a few steps of one another.
Hand in Report to Goldshire, bind your hearthstone at the Lion's Pride Inn and turn in Rest and Relaxation to Innkeeper Farley. Then read the board: most of the Fargodeep and lake quests are picked up here.

- 1Marshal Dughan 42.1, 65.9: hand in Report to Goldshire and Shhh! We're Hunting Kobolds, then take The Fargodeep Mine, Book Return and the jobs further east (see the last parts).
- 2Innkeeper Farley at the inn 43.8, 65.8: hand in Rest and Relaxation.
- 3William Pestle 43.3, 65.7: Kobold Candles (eight Large Candles) and Collecting Kelp.
- 4Remy "Two Times" 42.1, 67.3: Gold Dust Exchange (ten Gold Dust), and later the murloc errands.
5Fargodeep Mine: One Trip for Four QuestsLevel 4–7
The Fargodeep kobolds drop everything you need at once: Large Candles for William, Gold Dust for Remy, and the Lost Books for Dughan. Do all three together in one visit instead of three.
Walk the mine, finish the loop through the cave, and come back to Goldshire only when all four are complete.

- 1Fargodeep Mine entrance 40.6, 82.3: explore the mine for The Fargodeep Mine.
- 2The tunnels and the kobolds in them 40.3, 82.5: eight Large Candles, ten Gold Dust and six Lost Books from the same kobolds, and the Picture Book: Fun with Elementals deeper in 41.6, 79.9.
- 3Hand in at Goldshire 43.3, 65.7: Kobold Candles to William, Gold Dust Exchange to Remy, Book Return and The Fargodeep Mine to Dughan.
6Lakeshore and Sam's Camp: The New Forever ErrandsLevel 6–7
This is the loop that Forever adds: Sam Sarsaparilla, Helene, Jason and Lee each give a quick job by the lake, and Remy follows up with the murloc and boar errands. They are all level 6 to 7 and fit together, so take them at once.
Two of Sam's jobs need no fighting at all: sit by his campfire until you are rested, and talk to Tomas the cook for the cooking lesson.

- 1Sam Sarsaparilla by the campfire 44.9, 63.4: The Great Outdoors (sit by the fire), then Camping 101: Cooking, which you finish with Tomas at the inn 44.4, 66.0.
- 2The jobs by the water 47.5, 62.2: Jason Mathers for A Net Disaster and Slimy Menace, Helene Peltskinner 46.2, 62.2 for Rough Wolf Pelts, Lee Brown 47.6, 62.3 for Bottles and Baubles.
- 3The lake 49.8, 66.4: Murlocs and Murloc Streamrunners (6–7) for Slimy Menace, four Crystal Kelp Fronds from the water for Collecting Kelp, and the Half-Eaten Fish 48.4, 63.0 along the shore.
- 4The east shore 54.3, 66.8: six pieces of Shiny Junk, and seven Rough Wolf Pelts from the wolves east of the road 58.4, 62.1.
- 5Remy in Goldshire 42.1, 67.3: A Man About a Murloc, An Enticing Offer (Duskweed Petals from the south 41.4, 84.4 and a Vial of Animal Blood from Stonetusk Boars) and Baited for Success.
7Maclure Vineyards and Stonefield FarmLevel 5–8
Down the road south, the Maclure vineyards and the Stonefield farm hold a family of errands: letters, a pie and a necklace. They are easy kills, but they need a lot of walking, so do them in this order to never backtrack.

- 1Maybell Maclure 43.1, 89.6: Young Lovers, a letter for Tommy Joe Stonefield 29.8, 86.0.
- 2Tommy Joe 29.8, 86.0: Speak with Gramma; Gramma Stonefield 34.9, 83.9 then gives Note to William, to take back to William Pestle in Goldshire.
- 3Ma Stonefield 34.7, 84.5: Princess Must Die!; Princess and her Brass Collar are far to the east 69.7, 79.3.
- 4Auntie Bernice 34.5, 84.3: Lost Necklace, which sends you to Billy Maclure 43.1, 85.7.
- 5Billy Maclure 43.1, 85.7: Pie for Billy (four Chunks of Boar Meat from the boars near the vineyards 42.9, 86.6), then Back to Billy and Goldtooth, whose necklace is on Goldtooth in the cave 41.7, 78.0.
8The East: Thomas, the Logging Camp and Stone Cairn LakeLevel 7–10
The east is the hard end of the zone: wolves at 9 and 10, bears at 8 to 9 and Defias wizards at 9 to 10. You want to be about 8 when you go east, and 10 or close to it by the time you finish.
Guard Thomas on the bridge is the second hub. Take his jobs first, then do the logging camp, the mine and the lake in one pass.

- 1Marshal Dughan in Goldshire 42.1, 65.9: before you leave town, take Further Concerns, The Jasperlode Mine, Westbrook Garrison Needs Help! and Cloth and Leather Armor.
- 2Guard Thomas at the east bridge 74.0, 72.2: Find the Lost Guards, Protect the Frontier and Bounty on Murlocs. Prowlers and Young Forest Bears near the bridge 75.5, 76.5 for the first.
- 3Eastvale Logging Camp 79.5, 68.8: Sara's Red Linen Goods, Raelen's A Bundle of Trouble 81.4, 66.1 and Hagar's Good Steel 82.5, 63.8. Hand in Cloth and Leather Armor here.
- 4Hamish Bergwort 65.1, 69.8: Delicate Instruments; Blixie Fitzwink 63.2, 72.6 next to him gives Stolen Enchanting Supplies.
- 5Jasperlode Mine 60.2, 49.2: walk in for The Jasperlode Mine; the Kobold Geomancers (7–8) 61.1, 49.3 and the mining tools for Good Steel 61.3, 50.1 are here.
- 6The Defias north of the road 74.0, 55.6: six Defias Rogue Wizards (9–10) for Delicate Instruments, with the Red Linen Bandanas nearby 72.5, 56.4 and the Stolen Enchanting Supplies 68.7, 51.1.
- 7Stone Cairn Lake 76.5, 79.7: eight Torn Murloc Fins, the lost guards' medallions for Discover Rolf's Fate, and the Waterlogged tools for Ormin Pelford's Downstream 76.5, 71.9.
- 8Guard Thomas 74.0, 72.2: hand in the bounty, Report to Thomas and Protect the Frontier, then take Deliver Thomas' Report back to Dughan.
9The Westbrook Garrison and the CollectorLevel 6–10
Two quests send you off the main road: the gnoll bounty at the Westbrook Garrison and the manhunt for the Collector. Both end back in Goldshire, so they are the last stop before you leave.

- 1Westbrook Garrison 24.2, 74.5: Deputy Rainer's Riverpaw Gnoll Bounty, eight Painted Gnoll Armbands from the gnolls near the garrison 27.4, 79.9.
- 2The Collector 71.1, 80.7: kill Morgan the Collector for his ring, the objective of Dughan's Manhunt.
- 3Goldshire 42.1, 65.9: hand in everything to Dughan. If you looted a Westfall Deed on the way, keep it: Furlbrow's Deed is handed in at Furlbrow's farm in Westfall.
10Moving On: Westfall
The last hand-ins should leave you at 9 or 10. From Goldshire, take the road west into Westfall, where Sentinel Hill is the next base. If you are still a level low, finish the Fargodeep and lake errands first.
