WoW Forever keeps the level 1 to 60 world and the rules you know from Classic, then reworks the systems around them. These are the changes that shape your first character. Our change guides track every confirmed change across 7 in-depth topics.
Classes and Talents
Every class keeps three talent trees with the same number of rows, and the talents inside are revised in a Classic-minded way. Spell, melee, and ranged hit are now a single stat, and critical strike works the same way, so hybrid gear no longer splits between two versions of either.
Some classes also pick up new tools. Paladins, for example, learn Holy Strike at level 6, an instant Holy-damage weapon strike. Read our in-depth Class and Talent Changes guide or plan a build in the talent calculator.
Races and Racials
Six new race and class combinations join the roster: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin. Every race now has two active and two passive racial abilities, tuned to a similar amount of offensive power. The new Skyborne race can join either faction. A Bigger World
More than 1,000 new quests fill the journey to 60, across new and reimagined regions such as Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, Riverglades, and Zephras Isle. Dungeons, Raids, and PvP
Nine new dungeons, three raids on December 9 (Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia’s Lair), and the 15-vs-15 Darkspear Islands battleground expand group play at every level. See the full Dungeon, Raid, and PvP Changes guide.
New Systems
Forever is realmless: you choose a ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, or Hardcore after launch) instead of a realm, and character names have two parts. The account-wide Legacy Trees add a new way to grow every character, camping turns the Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire, and professions gain more than 600 new recipes.
