A few everyday systems work differently in World of Warcraft: Forever. Meeting Stones help you find groups instead of summoning, your first mount comes with riding training, some addons are restricted, and PvP has its own Honor ranks. Lead Classic Designer Tim Jones and Lead Encounter Designer Mike Nuthals explained the details in an interview with Kotaku, and Blizzard’s Deep Dive recap confirmed the riding change.
Meeting Stones Find Groups Instead of Summoning
Meeting Stones outside dungeons no longer summon players. Instead, they open a group listing feature where you can list your group or discover others.
Your party still travels to the entrance together, unless you have a Warlock to summon everyone. The developers see that trip as a chance for players to meet and talk, one of the social moments Forever is built around.
- Invite a Warlock if you want a quick way to the door.
- Use the downtime to sort out roles, buffs, and loot before the first pull.
Riding Training Now Includes Your Mount
Forever adopts the Burning Crusade approach to mount costs. The gold goes into riding training, and you receive a mount when you learn the riding skill, so you no longer pay twice.
A mount is still a milestone. The developers want effort to matter, so when you see someone riding, it reflects the time they have put into the game. Upgrade packs such as the Skyborne Heroic Pack include the Cerulean Prideclaw, which you can ride once you have learned the skill in-game.
Addons With Retail-Style Limits
Addons in Forever follow restrictions similar to modern World of Warcraft, aimed at addons that automate communication or marking for players.
PvP: 14 Honor Ranks Each Season
Battlegrounds and PvP content progress you through an Honor ranking system with 14 ranks for each PvP season or patch cycle. Along the way you earn cosmetic rewards and armor with PvP stats. The new 15-vs-15 Darkspear Islands battleground joins the rotation, and the roadmap brings PvP season refreshes in spring and summer 2027.
Raid Sizes
The first raid tier unlocks on December 9 with a raid for every group size: Barrow Deeps for 10 players, Hyjal Summit for 20, and Onyxia’s Lair for 40. The spring 2027 update adds two more raids, one for 10 players and one for 20. See the raids guide.
