The BlizzCon Deep Dive panel went system by system through World of Warcraft: Forever. Here is what it means for the character you create on day one.
Realmless Rulesets
Forever has no traditional realm list. Instead, you choose a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, or Hardcore, with Hardcore arriving after launch. Grouping across rulesets is not supported, so pick the same one as your friends.
Character names have two parts and are unique per region, and a language preference helps you meet players who share your language.
Races and Classes
Six new race and class combinations join the roster: Gnome Priest, Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman, Orc Mage, Troll Warlock, and Undead Paladin. Every race now has two active and two passive racial abilities, tuned to a similar amount of offensive power while keeping each race’s signature utility. Compare them in the races guide.
Talents and Stats
Talent trees keep their familiar structure and the same number of rows, with the talents inside revised in a Classic-minded way. Paladins, for example, learn Holy Strike at level 6: an instant Holy-damage weapon strike on a 12-second cooldown.
Spell, melee, and ranged hit are now one stat, and critical strike works the same way, so hybrid gear no longer splits between two kinds of hit or crit. Plan a build in the talent calculator.
Legacy Trees
Legacy is a new progression system for players who love leveling and alts. Legacy Points are shared across your characters, and each character spends them in its own Legacy Trees: up to 16 points per character at launch, with 65 points available to earn from the start. Extra points count toward a reward track. Try it in the Legacy Trees planner.
Camping and Professions
Camping turns the Cooking Fire into a Basic Campfire that can offer campsite utilities and buffs, and professions gain more than 600 new recipes across every level range.
Your Look, Your Controls
Transmog is opt-in, you can choose modern or Classic visual presets, and HD or SD character models, with Classic animations restored for HD models. Official gamepad support rounds out the options.
